SBR rubber displays similar performance characteristics to natural rubber, sometimes being used as a substitute. Typically SBR is more abrasion resistant but more prone to fatigue (rubber properties table).

SBR coated and SBR proofed textiles and fabrics are technically the same type of product. The SBR coating imparts added technical properties to the cloth. SBR tri-laminates encapsulate the coating under two layers of cloth.
